ORLANDO, Fla. — The inaugural Pints + Pigtails fundraiser raised nearly $7,000 for Harbor House of Central Florida, the region’s certified domestic violence center, at a sold-out community event held last week at Redlight Redlight in Orlando’s Audubon Park neighborhood.
The one-of-a-kind event paired hands-on hair styling tutorials with local craft beer, a live auction, and a raffle, drawing a crowd of nearly 100 supporters for an evening of fun with a purpose. Attendees chose from straight, wavy, coily/kinky, and curly styling stations, learning techniques from a lineup of volunteer stylists before trying them out themselves.
“Pints + Pigtails brought our community together for a night of creativity and connection, and all in support of survivors and families served by Harbor House,” said State Representative Dr. Anna V. Eskamani. “I’m so grateful to every stylist, sponsor, bartender, and guest who showed up and gave generously. It was so sweet and wholesome to watch Dads learn how to do their daughters’ hair, and for a first-time event to raise nearly $7,000 tells you everything about how much this community cares.”
Proceeds from the event support Harbor House of Central Florida, which provides emergency shelter, advocacy, and prevention programs for survivors of domestic violence across the region.
The evening’s celebrity bartenders included Michelle Sperzel, CEO of Harbor House; Andrea Sage of Cheat Day ORL; and Brendan O’Connor of Orlando Shine. A live auction featured exciting items donated by the City of Orlando and the Orlando Magic, with additional raffle donations from The Burrow, Good Pour, Alchemy, and more.
The event was made possible thanks to the generous support of its volunteer stylists and sponsors: Redlight Redlight, Alchemy Hair Salon, Blevins & Adams Law Group, Complete Care, Flynn Law, and State Representative Dr. Anna V. Eskamani, along with the many attendees who sponsored a stylist for the evening.
Organizers say the strong turnout and community response have them looking ahead to making Pints + Pigtails an annual tradition.
