ORLANDO, FL — As her final term in the Florida House of Representatives comes to a close, State Representative Dr. Anna V. Eskamani (D-Orlando) is thanking the residents of House District 42 for eight years of trust, partnership, and people-powered progress, and urging Floridians to stay engaged and keep demanding a government that works for them.
“Eight years ago, the people of this district took a chance on a daughter of working-class immigrants, a proud product of Orange County Public Schools and UCF, who believed government could be a force for good,” said Rep. Eskamani. “Every day since, I’ve tried to earn that trust. Serving you has been the honor of my life, and I’m so grateful to every neighbor who called our office, testified in Tallahassee, knocked on a door, or simply refused to give up on this state.”
Serving all of her tenure in the Minority Party, Rep. Eskamani built a reputation for getting things done by bringing resources home and finding common ground without compromising her values. Highlights include:
- Constituent services: Rep. Eskamani’s office helped tens of thousands of residents navigate state agencies, securing unemployment benefits, housing assistance, and other critical support. “If I’m proudest of one thing, it’s this,” she said. “Behind every case was a family who needed someone to pick up the phone and fight for them.”
- Bringing dollars home: Secured hundreds of millions in state funding for district projects, including for the Loch Haven Chain of Lakes, the Pulse Permanent Memorial, Mead Gardens, the Belle Isle Police Department, human trafficking prevention, and more.
- Protecting children and families: Passed bipartisan drowning prevention legislation and championed the diaper tax exemption, easing costs for Florida families. This month, she was named Outstanding Legislative Champion for Children by Florida’s Children First.
- Arts, parks, and our environment: Fought for increased arts funding, protection of Florida’s state parks, and environmental policy that safeguards our natural resources for future generations and challenges corporate polluters and sprawl development.
- Affordability and accountability: As Ranking Member of the Ways & Means and State Affairs Committees, she pressed for a budget and tax policy that put working Floridians first, closing corporate tax loopholes.
- Showing up: Hosted hundreds of town halls, workshops, supply drives, roundtables, and outreach events to keep constituents informed and connected to their government.
Rep. Eskamani also stood with her community in its hardest moments, including the response to the Pulse tragedy in her district, and was a consistent voice for LGBTQ+ Floridians, reproductive freedom, voting rights, racial justice, and the dignity of every resident.
She has always emphasized that progress has never depended on one person holding one office.
“What I’ve learned in Tallahassee is that nothing changes unless people show up, and that when they do, they win more often than anyone expects,” she said. “So please don’t tune out. Call your legislators. Read the bills. Show up at committee meetings and city commissions. Register your neighbors to vote. Ask hard questions and expect real answers. You deserve a government that is honest, accountable, and focused on the cost of living, not culture wars. Demand it.”
She added, “I’ve always said that if you don’t like how a story is going, you can help rewrite the ending. Central Florida, the pen is in your hands.”
Rep. Eskamani thanked her legislative staff, interns, colleagues on both sides of the aisle, and the advocates and community partners who powered the office’s work. Her District Office will continue serving constituents through November 3, 2026.
