Democrats flip U.S. Senate seats and governorships in deep-red states; Florida Democrats break the GOP supermajority in the Florida House and Senate

ORLANDO, Fla. — Former State Representative Dr. Anna V. Eskamani released the following statement on tonight’s national election results:

“Tonight, the American people delivered a clear verdict: MAGA is over.

“This wasn’t just a blue wave in blue states. Democrats won in places that were supposed to be out of reach. We flipped governorships, flipped U.S. Senate seats in Texas, Kansas, South Carolina, Ohio, and North Carolina, and won back ground in state legislatures across the country. Voters in deep-red America looked at what MAGA was offering and said: no more.

“Republicans ran some of the most vile campaigns in modern memory. In Ohio, Vivek Ramaswamy used Amy Acton’s estranged mother in an attack ad, turning a survivor’s childhood trauma into a political weapon. Across the country, we saw relentless Islamophobia and fear-mongering aimed at our neighbors. The cruelty was the message; division and deflection were all they had, and voters rejected it.

“Voters also rejected the results of Donald Trump’s policies, which have damaged our standing with allies around the world, driven up costs for working families, and put lives at risk. And they rejected politicians with no backbone who watched all of this happen and went along with it. Consenting to MAGA has a price, and tonight it came due.

“Here in Florida, we came close. Outspent by tens of millions of dollars, we still ran tight statewide races, and down the ballot we won big. Democrats broke the Republican supermajority in the Florida House and Senate and climbed out of the superminority. That means a real voice and real leverage in Tallahassee.

“Now the real work begins: governing. We have to show the American people and Floridians that we know how to lead, and that we will deliver on what we promised. And to everyone who poured their heart into a race that didn’t break our way: we don’t stop, and we don’t shrink. We get louder. We get braver. We get bolder.”
