Part of a National Weekend of Action for Abortion Access
Orlando, FL – Fifty years since the landmark case Roe V. Wade decision and we are now a nation without a constitutional right to abortion, with GOP extremists hostile to access, seeking to ban abortion in Florida. With Roe’s overturning, 13 states have completely banned abortion with countless others implementing and proposing further restrictions. Floridians overwhelmingly want abortion to remain legal, and generations before us have fought tirelessly to gain the rights now in jeopardy. We must continue to organize, demand access, and end stigma.
Hosted by Representative Anna V. Eskamani alongside elected officials, abortion storytellers, & advocates, Central Florida and beyond is invited to these organizing efforts amidst this moment of urgency. It is necessary to act now, not only to demonstrate that people support abortion access, but to show that we won’t back down. All across the nation, people are mobilizing for this national weekend of action marking 50 years since Roe and 7 months since the Dobbs Decision triggered state bans. Let’s be clear: there’s no such thing as a moderate ban.
We must fund abortion, vote for abortion, and protect abortion. Join us on Saturday January 21st from 12:00pm-2:00pm at Orlando City Hall as we rally for abortion access and to end stigma. The speaker program will formally begin at 12:30pm with a march to follow. Invite your family, friends and community. The antidote to despair is action; join us to get plugged in to Florida’s Legislative Session slated to start March 7th and hold lawmakers accountable to protecting your rights to reproductive care.
