Tonight Kansas voters resoundingly decided against removing the right to abortion from their State Constitution. This is a major victory for the abortion rights movement in one of America’s reliably conservative states. Below is Representative Anna V. Eskamani’s statement in response:
“This is a major victory for abortion rights and another reminder that abortion access is a winning issue across party lines and as Democrats we cannot be afraid to champion reproductive freedom and break abortion stigma! It also affirms what we’ve stressed at Team Anna all along: majority of Americans and Floridians support abortion access and do not want politicians to get in between them and their doctor. That’s why so many Florida Republicans have avoided talking about abortion, too. Finally: Don’t let people tell you that voting doesn’t matter! Tonight Kansas voters showed up and protected abortion access. Floridians can do the same this November if we organize and show up to vote for our collective freedoms. Onward!”
