Dear Friend,
I just wanted to send a quick note to wish all Dads out there (including dog and cat dads) a Happy Father’s Day!
Each day, I feel a deep sense of gratitude for my Dad, who raised a family of three kids on his own after our Mom passed away to cancer in 2004. He worked multiple jobs to make ends meet and his number one commitment has always been family.
He’s also a graduate from UCF, and went back to school while raising three kids. Here’s a photo of him holding my twin sister and I next to Reflecting Pond.
I also want to send love to anyone who has lost a Dad, or to anyone who maybe does not have a relationship with their Dad. It’s ok to not be ok, and to grieve on days like this, too.
This year, Father’s Day also marks Juneteenth. In case you did not know, Juneteenth commemorates the day enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, finally learned they were free. We’ve been honored to attend several Juneteenth events taking place around Central Florida, and you can learn more about those events here.
Onward together,
Rep. Anna V. Eskamani
