A virtual conversation with Joseph (Joey) Knoll, MSN, APRN CEO and Medical Services Director at SPEKTRUM Health and Andrew Lent, MPH, Healthcare Equity Trainer at Equality Florida
Orlando, FL – Following recent and persistent attacks against the LGBTQ+ community and specifically transgender and non-binary Floridians, Representative Anna V. Eskamani is joining SPEKTRUM Health CEO, Joseph (Joey) Knoll, and Equality Florida’s Healthcare Equity Trainer, Andrew Lent, to discuss the basics of gender-affirming care for youth.
Just this month, the Florida Department of Health released a damaging letter recommending that transgender, non-binary, and gender non-conforming youth be denied access to gender-affirming care and social transition. The same day, the Florida Department of Education quietly dropped out of a CDC survey tracking mental health, suicidality, and other important risk indicators in teens. These dangerous moves follow a year in which a record-setting 300+ anti-LGBTQ bills were filed across the nation. These politically-motivated attacks are NOT founded in legitimate research and pose extreme harms to already vulnerable LGBTQ youth and adults.
RSVP to learn about compassionate, patient-centered and medically-accurate care and what we can do to advocate for transgender, non-binary, and gender non-conforming youth and people in Florida.
