Orlando, FL – Representative Anna V. Eskamani believes it is essential for Floridians to understand the issues surrounding mental health and wellness. Today at 12:00 PM EST, the Representative will host a virtual event to amplify mental health resources and ways to end stigma for accessing care. This follows the recent decision by the Department of Education to remove critical resources from their website to prevent bullying of LGBTQ+ kids and links to important advocacy groups.

A live program will be streamed at www.facebook.com/AnnaForFlorida with captions available in English and Spanish at bit.ly/Anna_Captions.

Nearly one in five U.S. adults live with a mental health condition, according to The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH). The Trevor Project reports that 68% of LGBTQ+ individuals have reported symptoms of generalized anxiety and often more barriers to care. The agenda will bring awareness to mental health, provide in-person and virtual options for resources, as well as explain ways to support loved ones navigating mental illness.
