Dear Friend,
Today is Veterans Day — a moment to honor the contributions of our military service members, and recommit ourselves to ensuring the health and well-being of our veterans.
There are over 1.5 million veterans in the State of Florida and we are humbled by their bravery and sacrifice. But as lawmakers, it is not enough to say we support veterans, we have to act on that commitment too.Â
That’s why we fight every day for affordable housing, increased access to health care (including mental health), sexual assault prevention and have worked to support Floridians through the economic hardships of COVID-19. Many Floridians who have contacted our office, both workers and small business owners, are veterans.
If you are looking for ways to celebrate Veterans Day, this Saturday is the City of Orlando’s Veterans Day Parade. We invite you to join us, and you can learn more at this link.
Also, Vets for the People is hosting a Veterans Day Virtual Community Reunion tonight at 7:30 PM EST. This event will be led by two women of color veterans and will focus on empowering veterans from diverse backgrounds to become more civically involved.
Whether it’s preventing sexual assault, improving access to health care, providing support in attaining affordable housing, or expanding mental health services and job opportunities — we each have the power to stand up for our Democracy and pay homage to those who have served our country through meaningful advocacy and policy changes.
We’re proud to do just that in House District 47, and thank our veterans and their families today, and every day.
Onward,
Rep. Anna V. Eskamani
