Orlando, FL In the United States, one in three parents struggle with “diaper need,” or the incapacity to provide their babies with essential items such as diapers. While little assistance exists nationwide to alleviate diaper need, there exists a regressive tax on diaper purchases in Florida. This tax poses a considerable financial strain on families struggling to supply these necessities to their children.

Representative Anna V. Eskamani is partnering with the Central Florida Diaper Bank to collect diaper supplies on weekdays during National Diaper Need Awareness Week (9/27 thru 10/3). For more information about the Central Florida Diaper Bank, visit centralfloridadiaperbank.org.

Local families have an immediate need but this burden is felt statewide, which is why Representative Eskamani has also filed HB85 Tax Exemption on Diapers and Incontinence Products to eliminate the financial barriers impeding Floridians from acquiring these supplies.
