Rep. Eskamani’s Day of Action

By: Kelli Collins

On February 14th, 2018 in Parkland, Florida at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, 17 people were killed, including students and teachers. It was one of the largest mass shootings in American history and an absolute tragedy for our state and nation.

Florida has seen two of the largest mass shootings in modern history– the Pulse nightclub and at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.  We see shootings take place every day, too. This is way too many. Organizations like Equality Florida, March For Our Lives, and Moms Demand Action have formed because of these tragedies and are located all over the country fighting against gun violence. Florida is an important state in the work to prevent gun violence, and supporting the best politicians who will take action on gun violence is important, and one of those politicians is Representative Anna V. Eskamani.

On February 15th a Day of Action was held in honor of those who have been impacted by gun violence by Rep. Anna Eskamani alongside coalition partners. Amazing coordinators and leaders such as Wes Davis with Equality for Florida, Trevor Wild with March For Our Lives, and Danielle Veillette of Moms Demand Action came out with over 40 supporters and volunteers.

To help kickoff the event, organization leaders shared personal stories of why 2020 is so important, and then Anna spoke to the crowd of supporters, reminding volunteers why knocking on doors and talking to constituents directly is important, and why she’s the best candidate to continue serving House District 47.

The event itself was a major success and we are grateful to everyone who joined us. Here’s a quick list of ways you can continue to help #TeamAnna:

  1. Keep volunteering with us! We knock on doors EVERY weekend, just let me know when you’re free and I will get you plugged in! We also have other volunteer opportunities that I can tell you more about if canvassing isn’t a good fit for you. Email cheyenne@annforflorida.com to get plugged into our work as a volunteer.
  2. Show your #TeamAnna Pride! We have yard signs, stickers, t-shirts, and more! Let me know if you need any of the above. We cannot fundraise until the end of legislative session, but after mid-March, any donation that’s meaningful to you truly helps our movement. Email cheyenne@annforflorida.com for #TeamAnna swag!
  3. Follow us on social media! We’re on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Youtube. Keep track of us online, and encourage your friends to follow us too!
