Dear Friend,
Every June, I think about what Pride really means here in Orlando.
It means joy; block parties, rainbow flags, chosen family, and the freedom to love who you love, and to be your authentic self. And it means remembrance. This month marks ten years since Pulse. We carry all 49 with us, and we carry a promise: that this city will always be a place where LGBTQ+ people are safe, seen, and celebrated.
Pride was born from courage. From people who refused to be pushed back into the shadows. And that history feels especially close right now. Across Florida, we’ve watched politicians target trans kids, pull books from shelves, attack drag queens, and try to legislate our neighbors out of public life. I’ve fought every one of those bills, and I am not going to stop.
But Pride isn’t only about what we stand against. It’s about what we’re building together: a community where every single person belongs. And we can lead with love and joy.
Here’s one example of what that looks like to me.
Recently, I spent an afternoon knocking on doors with the fabulous Daisy Dior, one of our own local drag queens. At a moment when politicians are trying to push drag performers out of public life, we showed up on front porches and small businesses, side by side, with joy. Take a look:
That’s Pride to me, showing up for each other, out loud and unafraid. That’s why I’d love for you to join me on June 16th for a Pride Night at The Anthem, one of our local LGBTQ+ small businesses in Downtown Orlando.

Come for the joy. Stay for the community. And invites others to join us, too.ย Happy Pride, Orlando. See you soon!
Onward,
