–Market on South is one of my all time favorite plant-based eateries in HD47. The food is delicious, the staff is kind, and everyone who walks in their doors feels welcomed. I am so excited to feature them. Order online here!  -Angela, campaign intern

  1. Describe the perfect work day at Market on South.

Every dang day we’re open and able to serve our community is the perfect work day. But the most perfect of all perfect days is when the grits come out just right, the whole place smells like fresh outta the oven cinnamon rolls, everyone is kind to our team, and lots of dogs come to visit!

  1. Do you have a favorite menu item?

The fried green tomato sandwich. A truly southern, plant-based, iconic menu item. The green tomatoes are fresh, never frozen, and sliced thick so they retain that fresh juicy deliciousness. The fixins on the sandwich are a perfect pairing, and it’s something we never ever get tired of eating.

  1. These are unprecedented times for small businesses everywhere. What can we do to support Market on South right now?

Let us feed you!!! We all need comfort food right now, and we’re taking so many precautions to keep our team and guests safe. Temperature checks and masks required by everyone who enters the building, routine professional sanitization using EPA approved products, and an in-house “covid code of conduct”. We are not open for dine in, so curbside, takeout, and delivery can be enjoyed with minimal to no contact. Find us on Facebook & Instagram!

  1. Can you share your thoughts on what responsibilities small businesses might have right now in showing up and speaking out for racial equality?

Oh yeah!!! Anyone with the privilege of having a large platform needs to be utilizing that platform to speak out against injustice and share information & resources to make change. There are no excuses. We need to support the community that supports us. Our entire team has been openly active within the BLM movement, donating food/resources/money to the cause. Small businesses should not be silent or neutral when it comes to advocating for basic human rights. Be kind, y’all. Looking out for others should not be a controversy.
