Dear Friend,
Vice President Kamala Harris will be in Orlando today and part of her visit will include a round table discussion with state lawmakers focused on reproductive rights.
That round table will include me.
I worked at Planned Parenthood before I ran for office for six years and was a volunteer and patient before then, too.
The fall of Roe has unleashed dangerous abortion bans across the nation, including a 15 week ban right here in Florida that has no exceptions for rape, incest or human trafficking.
We are already seeing patients travel from other states to Florida in need of care, and Floridians now having to navigate the new reality of living in a state where politicians don’t think we are mature enough to decide when or when not to parent.
At Team Anna we have been on the ground, at health centers, protests and in the legislature, fighting to protect reproductive freedom and abortion rights.
In this post-Roe world, there is no quick fix, but centering our policy solutions and advocacy on the needs of impacted people is where we must focus and deliver on.
I look forward to this important conversation with Vice President Harris, and will be asking that our federal government explore and pursue every option to secure reproductive rights for all.
Onward,
Rep. Anna V. Eskamani
