Dear Friend,
The Governor just vetoed HB741, the anti-rooftop bill originally drafted by Florida Power & Light (FPL) that would have decimated the rooftop solar industry.
This is a huge win for the people of Florida and kudos goes to the thousands of advocates across the state who made their concerns loud and clear. To everyone who called, emailed, came to Tallahasee and testified during the committee process — this win is for you.
Check out the video above for my seven minute debate against this bill and remember that we must keep the pressure on.
The State of Florida has not championed renewable energy or energy efficiency goals; utility rates for customers recently increased and there is still so much political corruption facilitated by companies like FPL that have not been fully uncovered. Remember also that this was the third attempt by utility companies to go after net metering and it certainly won’t be the last.
Our advocacy on issues like this is driven by a love for our planet, a commitment to clean energy jobs and a vision for increased consumer choice and rights. Let’s keep fighting.
Onward,
Rep. Anna V. Eskamani
