Dear Friend,
As the first Iranian-American elected to any public office in Florida, I am always excited and humbled to share parts of my culture with you!
That includes the Persian New Year, or Norouz (pronounced “no-rooz”).
In Iran, the new year begins with the advent of spring, and most everyone in the country — not to mention the millions of Iranians and non-Iranians who celebrate the holiday elsewhere around the world — observe it by doing a deep clean of their homes, celebrating a season of new life, and wishing for good luck in the year ahead.
This year we’re hosting a virtual celebration on March 6th from 7:00-8:00pm EST, and last weekend we finished filming a cooking segment focused on how to make traditional Persian dishes, including Ghormeh Sabzi and Tahdig!
We’ll be sharing that video during our virtual event and welcoming Iranian-American comedian Maz Jobrani as a special guest!
I hope you can join us for this free and family friendly virtual event celebrating Persian culture — pease consider inviting friends, too!
Onward,
Representative Anna V. Eskamani
