I want to be unequivocally clear in condemning the deeply racist and abhorrent social media post shared by President Trump, in which former President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama were depicted as apes.
This imagery is not accidental, nor is it harmless. It draws from a long, ugly history of dehumanization rooted in white supremacy. To make the situation worse, the President did not even apologize. He simply deleted the post, which does nothing to undo the harm or signal accountability.
In addition to being racist and harmful, I also believe this is yet another attempt to distract the American public while millions of pages of the Epstein Files are being examined. We should be clear-eyed about both the bigotry and the political manipulation at play.
Let me also be clear about who we are. I have zero tolerance for racism, hate, or bigotry of any kind. At Team Anna, every person is deserving of dignity, respect, and belonging — full stop.
