Orlando, FL: This week, the City of Orlando announced it accepted a $394,000 grant from the State of Florida for the Pulse memorial project. Representative Dr. Anna V. Eskamani championed this funding request alongside Senator Carlos Guillermo Smith. Below is her statement.

“I’m incredibly proud that Senator Carlos Guillermo Smith and I were able to secure state funding to help make the City of Orlando’s Pulse Memorial a reality. Our community needs a sacred and permanent space to honor the 49 lives we lost, the survivors, their families, and the first responders who carry this tragedy with them every day. We’re deeply grateful to our colleagues in the Legislature who supported this effort, and to the City of Orlando for its partnership in ensuring that love, not hate, defines our community’s legacy.

This memorial will serve as a lasting reminder of who we are: resilient, compassionate, and united in the face of unimaginable loss.”
