Dear Friend,
This weekend, Orlando and Orange County experienced a profound loss with the passing of the Honorable Mable Butler.
She was by every definition of the word a trailblazer, breaking barriers as the first Black woman elected to the Orlando City Council and later serving with distinction on the Orange County Commission. Commissioner Butler dedicated her life to public service, to uplifting her community, and to paving the way for future generations of leaders.
Her legacy of courage, compassion, and determination will live on in the countless lives she touched and the path she forged for others to follow.

We honor her memory with deep gratitude and extend our love and condolences to her family, friends, and all who were inspired by her remarkable life.
As noted in the Orlando Sentinel article, a celebration of life is planned for Sept. 19 at the L. Claudia Allen Senior Center in Orlando. The following day a memorial service will be held on Sept. 20 at 11 a.m. at the Cathedral Church Of St Luke in downtown Orlando. Learn more here.
Rest in power.
