Dear Friend,
I wanted to ensure you listened to my recent interview with NPR’s Here and Now, centered on our scheduled visit to the Everglades Immigrant Detention Facility.
As you likely know, we have been hard at work to shut down this immigration detention facility and stop the criminalization and demonization of hard-working Floridians who pay taxes, add to our economy, and are not a threat to our collective safety and well-being.

This has included us making an unannounced visit to the Everglades Immigrant Detention Facility — and then suing the State of Florida after we were denied access.
I also signed on to the lawsuit filed by the Friends of the Everglades and the Center for Biological Diversity, which centers on environmental concerns.
Most recently, I have been examining contracts that reveal the incredible grift that this detention center revolves around.
In fact, our work was so effective that after we exposed several contracts siphoning millions of public dollars to friends of Governor DeSantis, the State of Florida subsequently removed these contracts from its public database.
With all of this said, I want you to know that at Team Anna, we are working for you and fighting for us.
We are committed to accountability, ethics, compassion, and problem-solving. We’re not going to accept Trump and DeSantis’ anti-immigrant agenda as normal or even legal — and will fight in every way we can to ensure collective prosperity for all.
Thank you for trusting us to do this work. If you can, please consider making a donation to our local NPR and/or PBS station today, too. Like so many, I am devastated by the federal cuts and want to ensure we leverage our platforms to support public media, too.
Onward,
