Dear Friend,

Today is July 4th, a day to celebrate freedom, independence, and the promise of America.

That promise can feel very far these days, but if there’s one thing history teaches us, it’s that patriotism isn’t about blind pride. It’s about the courage to demand better. The most American thing we can do right now is fight for an America that lives up to its ideals.

That means standing up for abortion rights, for LGBTQ+ people, for immigrants, and working families. It means protecting our democracy and refusing to let fear or hate win.

As a daughter of immigrants, I know that America’s promise is not guaranteed—it has to be fought for. My parents came to this country and sacrificed so much with hope for a better life, and I carry that hope with me every day.

But hope isn’t a noun, it’s a verb. And we must build hope together.

This Independence Day, we’re not just celebrating. We’re organizing. We’re building. We’re reclaiming the promise of America for everyone, not just the powerful few.

Onward,
