I am devastated by the tragic shooting that took place today at Florida State University. My heart is with the victims, their families, and the entire FSU community. No student should ever fear for their life while pursuing an education. To the first responders and medical personnel on the ground: thank you for your bravery. To everyone at FSU and in Tallahassee: we stand with you and we will not stop fighting for a future where these horrors are no longer part of American life. Common-sense policy measures like safe storage requirements, background checks, and violence intervention can save lives. Thoughts and prayers are not enough. We need real leadership, real reform, and a real commitment to keeping our communities safe.
