On June 12, 2016, a gunman opened fire at Pulse nightclub, a safe and inclusive space for LGBTQ+ people in Orlando. This tragic mass shooting left 49 people dead, more than 50 wounded, and an entire community in trauma and grief. It remains one of the deadliest mass shootings in American history.
Today, we honor the 49 victims, survivors, their families, first responders, and those impacted by this violent attack on the LGBTQ+ community. It is critical to continue to uplift, support, and remember those who we have lost and those who are fighting for the safety and freedom of LGBTQ+ people here in Florida and around the nation.
