Tallahassee, FL: It is being reported that SB476/HB651, titled “Civil Liability for the Wrongful Death of an Unborn Child” is no longer moving forward as it was just temporarily postponed in the Florida Senate in the Rules Committee. See more here.
Below is Representative Eskamani’s response:
“This is a dangerous bill that opens up a path to personhood in Florida. With attacks on reproductive health including IVF taking place across the country this is not a bill that we need. In fact it has dangerous unintended consequences in a state that has already banned abortion at 6 weeks. We should be expanding access to care — not limiting it. I am glad to see this bill temporarily postponed and hopeful that it will not be heard on the House or Senate Floor.”
