Dear Friend,
As you already know, a proposed ballot amendment to enshrine access to abortion in Florida’s constitution is one step closer to appearing on the November ballot after a coalition of reproductive rights advocates surpassed the required number of validated signatures.
Floridians Protecting Freedom, the group leading the ballot effort, collected more than 910,000 validated signatures of registered voters — more than the nearly 892,000 they needed to move forward with the process of getting their proposal on the ballot — according to the Florida Division of Elections, which has tracked the validated signatures.
We’ve been given a number for the November ballot too: Amendment 4.
But now, Floridians Protecting Freedom must defend the language of the ballot amendment from Attorney General Ashley Moody to the State Supreme Court.
Watch the oral arguments live here Wednesday morning. We’ll continue to keep you posted on ways to fight back for reproductive freedom.
Onward,
Rep. Anna V. Eskamani
