Rep. Eskamani will be joined by Marsha Are, CEO of the Homeless Services Network of Central Florida
Orlando, FL – Homelessness continues to grow in the Central Florida area and it’s important to stay informed on how best to support our community. On Monday, July 17th at 2:00 p.m., Representative Anna V. Eskamani will host a virtual event to discuss what’s behind the rise in homelessness and share the work being done to address it. A live program will be streamed at facebook.com/AnnaForFlorida.
On a single day in January, the Homeless Services Network of Central Florida and its volunteers counted 2,258 people experiencing homelessness in Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties – a fraction of what is expected over the entire year. Still, the figure was up 5% over a year earlier – and the number of people who were without shelter has risen an alarming 75% since 2019. With rent skyrocketing in the Central Florida area, it’s important to understand how we can support homeless individuals and families in our community. This even will explore origins of homelessness and ways to contribute to the community with Martha Are, CEO of Homeless Services Network of Central Florida, adding an expert perspective.
Join us Monday for a live event offering guidance to those residents and leaders preparing for the ongoing hurricane season. RSVP details are provided below.
