The current exemption was set to end June 30, 2023, but will now become permanent and include incontinence products.

Orlando, FL –  During the recent legislative session, Representative Anna V. Eskamani sponsored and passed legislation in partnership with Senate Democratic Leader Lauren Book to make the temporary diaper sales tax permanent and expand its impact to include incontinence products. House Bill 29 / Senate Bill 114 will take effect this Saturday, July 1st and make Florida the fifteenth state to remove sales tax charges for these essential health and hygiene products.

One in three families in the U.S cannot afford the cost of diapers, and struggle to keep their children clean and healthy. Similarly, adult diapers and other adult incontinence products are currently on trend to overtake children’s diapers in market value, as seniors will soon overtake infants in population.

This bipartisan legislation is a victory for everyday families that will eliminate a regressive tax on an essential good that has been burdening Florida households for years. To mark the occasion, Rep. Eskamani will be joined on Thursday, June 29th by local families and community partners, Central Florida Diaper Bank and Healthy Start Coalition of Orange County.
