Orlando, FL: Today Governor Ron DeSantis signed the 2023 State Budget and vetoed upwards of $500 million in budget projects. Here is Representative Eskamani’s statement in response.
“We are proud to have secured upwards of $5 million in Florida’s State Budget for House District 42, but are also frustrated to see five of our projects vetoed, including funding for the Adult Literacy League, a racial equity initiative, and support for our local municipalities. Many of my Democratic colleagues also saw all or close to all of their funding requests be vetoed. These are essential programs that support Floridians in need and areas of concentrated disadvantage. Seeing these items vetoed is not just a political decision — it has real human impact and we’ll continue to ground ourselves in our local communities as we advocate for a healthier, brighter and more prosperous Florida.”
