April 22nd marks Record Store Day! It will carry on the sixteen-year-long tradition of celebrating the importance of brick-and-mortar record stores. These stores serve a vital role in our community by reminding each generation the uniqueness of a record and the importance of embracing and preserving older music styles and listening methods.
Many communities pass on their culture through music and record stores are preserving and facilitating this impactful tradition. No record or record player sounds the same, which means listening to a record is always a special moment shared with others or by yourself.
With the rise of streaming services, the tactile feeling of placing the record on the record player and putting the needle into the groove has almost become a rare sensation. However, record stores are fighting this digitalization and reminding folks how the past is still present!
Team Anna honors and celebrates Record Store Day and record stores each day to keep this time-old tradition alive, and our local record shops going strong.
