Orlando, FL – According to the Student Federal Aid Agency, Floridians have a total of $105.1 billion dollars in student debt with roughly 2.7 million borrowers. When examining the individual level, the average debtor in Florida owes close to $40,000 in federal student loans.
Recently, the Department of Justice and the Department of Education have issued new guidance designed to make it easier to discharge student loans in bankruptcy. According to the National Consumer Law Center, a key section of this new process is completing an Attestation Form to seek agreement to settle the debtor’s undue hardship discharge proceeding.
Join Representative Anna V. Eskamani for a virtual event on Tuesday, April 11th from 10:00AM – 10:30AM discussing new federal rules regarding student loan bankruptcy for cases pending or filed after 11/17/2022.
