Invest in our Mother Earth this Earth Day through action, education, and raising awareness to the place we call home. Earth Day is celebrated everyday to increase support, consciousness, and attention for the much needed environmental protections and sustainability within our communities, cities, state, and country.
The planet’s average surface temperature has risen about 2 degrees fahrenheit since the late 19th century with most of the warming occurring within the last couple of decades. But what does this mean and how can we, as individuals, stop or at the very least reduce the very potentiality of our Earth dying? It more or less highlights the “Doomsday clock,” which provides conversation for how our home may become inhabitable as climate catastrophes continue to become more and more dangerous, like seen in Arkansas and many states in the South facing deadly, cataclysmic tornadoes that completely annihilated homes and communities and in our home state of Florida this past year with Hurricane Ian and Nicole ripping apart schools, small businesses, homes, and livelihood.
We still face the destruction that these storms produce, as do southern states from the latest tornadoes. It will take years, if not decades, to rebuild. It will take not just you, but us- together.
Celebrating Earth Day this year stands as a wake up call, a call to action, to bring attention to the urgent need that our Mother Earth is crying for. Although corporations and businesses must be held accountable, we as residents and human beings can take small, yet powerful, steps to creating change. From reducing our plastic use and conserving energy in our homes to advocating for policy change and voting for our Earth, we are the beginning to a brighter future for not just us, but for future generations to come.
At Team Anna, Earth Day is every day! That is why we take small actions every day to help protect our planet. Our team strives everyday to create changes big or small through our incredible, fresh garden at our district office; through holding big corporations accountable who continue to damage to our beaches, oceans, rivers, forests; through taking the steps to recycle and find items secondhand; through creating the small window of opportunity to mitigate the extreme effects of climate change on our local community by collaborative action of our peers and team by voting green and blue, attending a cleanup, and becoming educated in the world of climate and environmental issues.
We must, together, create a home: a cleaner, greener, healthier planet. We encourage YOU to speak up, demand action, and take the small, yet significant steps to protect our home that is Mother Earth and fight for her as she does for us.
