Orlando, FL: Today Governor Ron DeSantis released his proposed budget for the next fiscal year. Part of his proposal includes what is a Democratic tax break: the tax on children’s diapers. As sponsor of the bill and Ranking Member of the Florida House’s Ways & Means Committee, below is Representative Eskamani’s response:
“It’s great to see more and more Republicans align with Democratic values of cutting taxes that consumers face. The diaper tax break has been a goal of our Democratic Caucus for years, and in 2022 we were successful in securing what is now a temporary one year tax break. With the Governor’s remarks today and conservations I’ve had with House Leadership, I feel confident we’ll be able to eliminate the diaper tax completely for children. We still want to see the tax eliminated for adult incontinence products and will continue to advocate for policies that are consumer focused while we push to close corporate tax loopholes.”
