Orlando, FL– Tomorrow, November 30th at 10:00am, Florida State Representative Anna V. Eskamani will host a virtual discussion focused on what renters can do to advocate for themselves and what steps to take when navigating an eviction. Representative Eskamani will be joined by Mike Resnick from The Legal Aid Society of the Orange County Bar Association, Inc. A live program will be streamed at www.facebook.com/AnnaForFlorida. This program will be provided with captions in English and Spanish.

Central Florida has ranked in the top 20 most rent-burdened metropolitan statistical areas in the country and Florida is now the 11th least affordable state in the US for renters. There has been an unprecedented amount of families on the verge of eviction or forced relocation following delays of assistance from Florida’s unemployment system, rental relief programs, and a general lack of social safety nets and renters rights. People need solutions fast and elected officials who will champion the needs of everyday people going into the 2023 Legislative Session.

“Our legislative office remains flooded with people who after months of delays with assistance programs are now navigating evictions or foreclosures. Legal Aid continues to be an essential resource in these circumstances if they’re contacted early enough, which is why we’re bringing information straight to the doors of our constituents about their rights and options,” Representative Eskamani said. In advance of the virtual discussion, her office is distributing informational flyers across the district.
