What do you love most about having a small business in House District 47?
Running a small business in House District 47 has been such a welcoming community. The support from not only all other businesses but the food family in Orlando is very supportive and strong!
What inspired you to begin Pizza Slut and what keeps you going now?
My parents are both chefs so I grew to love everything that had to do with food! I began traveling the world in search of the best pizza and hoped to learn from the top pizza makers, and I called myself the “Pizza Slut” because I was getting around just for ‘za! Over 600 pizzerias later – with hands-on lessons from many – and of course my mentor here in Orlando AJ Haines, I decided it was my turn to get my hands on dough! My style is Neopolitan-ish sourdough pizza using a portable wood-fired/gas pizza oven. I let my creativity flow as fast as possible and dove head first. Pizza Slut was created in hopes to share my love of pizza with all of Orlando! I could never fathom how much it has taken off and I appreciate all my incredible followers who line up for it.
What advice would you give to someone else wanting to open a small business?
You cannot do it alone. Always accept support and help from people who’ve done it before. Although it’s a ton of work, it has been the greatest experience of my life yet.
What is one memory from Pizza Slut that will always stick with you?
Probably my first event: a little coffee spot in Mount Dora. My first time sharing my pizza with the world and it was just incredible to see the response and people driving from all over the state to eat MY pizza! And of course, selling out has been such an incredible feeling.
