Yet, he is still determined to push forward with it, using taxpayer dollars to stage a political spectacle instead of focusing on the real issues Floridians are facing.
This session is designed to further his extreme agenda, targeting immigrant communities, consolidating his own power, and undermining democratic processes, all while ignoring urgent crises like housing affordability, rising insurance costs, and stagnant wages. It’s a distraction, a waste of resources, and a disservice to the people of Florida. Even members of his own political party oppose this call for a special session.
Immigrants are the backbone of Florida’s economy, contributing to vital industries like agriculture, tourism, and construction. Targeting these hardworking communities isn’t just cruel—it’s a bad business decision that hurts all Floridians. On top of that, his push to weaken the ballot initiative process is a direct attack on the voices of voters, designed to silence opposition and shield himself from accountability. He is also proposing a specific change that would prevent Floridians from ever being able to use the citizen-led ballot initiative process to codify abortion rights — ever.
This special session is a waste of public resources that could be spent making life better for Florida’s families. Instead of political games, we should tackle the real issues—affordable housing, fair wages, and access to healthcare.
