Dear Friend,
Norouz Mobarak, or happy New Year from my family, to yours!
Today marks the beginning of the Spring Equinox, which is also the Persian New Year. People in Iran — along with millions of Iranians and non-Iranians who celebrate the holiday elsewhere around the world — observe this special occasion by doing a deep cleanse of their homes, celebrating a season of new life, and wishing for good luck in the year ahead.
I am proud to be the first Iranian-American elected to any public office in Florida, and earlier this month we hosted a virtual celebration to honor Norouz. You can re-watch that video via this link.
The event featured Iranian-American comedian Maz Jobrani, and I also showed folks how to cook three delicious Persian dishes!
It is always such a humbling experience to share parts of my culture and family traditions with you! Thank you for being a part of it!
Onward,
Representative Anna V. Eskamani
