HB 29 passed its first committee stop unanimously on Thursday, March 30th
Tallahassee, FL – Representative Anna V. Eskamani will host a press conference centered on diaper need this Tuesday, April 4th at 9:00AM in the 4th Floor Rotunda of the Capitol Building in partnership with the National Diaper Bank Network.
Representative Anna V. Eskamani seeks to make the temporary sales tax break on diapers permanent and expand it to include adult incontinence products with House Bill 29 and Senate Bill 114 sponsored by Leader Lauren Book. The House bill unanimously passed the Ways & Means Committee last week, and will now move to the Appropriations Committee.
This legislation includes tax exemptions on both diapers and adult incontinence products permanently. It would return millions of dollars back into the pockets of hard-working Floridian families, saving the average family close to $70 per month. Diaper needs are a critical issue in the US; one in three families cannot afford the cost of diapers, and three in five parents miss work or school because they cannot afford the diapers required to leave their child at daycare.
