In Partnership with the Eatonville Chamber of Commerce and Senator Geraldine Thompson
Eatonville, FL – In 1887, Eatonville became the first town in America to be organized, governed, and incorporated by African-American citizens, serving as a nationwide pillar of progress. During the American civil rights movement, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was among the most prominent US leaders fighting against injustice and advancing racial equality, and his efforts continue to influence the landscape of American society today.
While the third Monday in January is federally designated as the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service, we recognize that a commitment to service exists year-round, and that Eatonville continues to be a marker of change and hope in our community.
In honor of the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Representative Anna V. Eskamani, Senator Geraldine Thompson, and the Eatonville Chamber of Commerce will host a day of service community clean-up on Saturday, January 28th from 10:00AM – 12:00PM in Eatonville. Participants are asked to dress comfortably and wear closed-toe shoes, but cleanup supplies will be provided for guests who register in advance.
Join Representative Anna V. Eskamani, Senator Geraldine Thompson, and the Eatonville Chamber of Commerce in a day of action to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. while also preserving the beauty of historic Eatonville!
