Lobos Coffee Roasters is one of many caffeine gems that call House District 47 home. Just steps off Corrine Drive, locals can find a new space to enjoy a slow morning or a boost on-the-go, and yes they serve food too!  Lauren

1. What do you love most about having a small business in House District 47?

The community. The community embraced us the moment we opened our doors and we are grateful for all the love and support they have shown. It is scary to open a business even in the best of times, however in today’s uncertain world, it takes a monumental task to open a small business and be successful. We can’t thank the people of this community enough for all their support.

2. What inspired you to begin Lobos Coffee and what keeps you going now?

The inspiration to open a coffee house came from my Grandmother. She had a coffee farm in Panama and as I child I watched her work on the coffee farm; she was hands-on with every aspect of the business and you could often find her in the fields working. I came to appreciate the love and sacrifice she made to give our family a better life. What keeps me going is the risk my parents took moving our family to the United States so one day we could have an opportunity to have a better life for ourselves. I hope, one day, to give that same opportunity to my kids and make my parents proud in the process.

3. What advice would you give to someone else wanting to open a small business?

The only thing that can stop you from opening a business is the fear of failing. You have to believe in your idea and can’t be afraid to take a risk. There will be people who try to deter you based on their own fear and you can’t let their fear change your mind. If you don’t open your business, someone else will.

4. What is one memory from Lobos Coffee that will always stick with you?

Our opening weekend we had a line out the door! Until you open your doors, it’s only ink on a paper and just a dream. When I saw the line I knew my dream was now a reality. Nothing is a better feeling then when customers walk into your shop and enjoying what you have created; it’s a feeling that will never leave you.

5. How can readers get plugged into your business or show support in 2021?

We are open starting at 6:30am Monday – Friday and at 8am on the weekends. I hope to see all of your readers come in for a cup of coffee, quick bite, a beer or a glass of wine.
